I've hibernated for far too long
Awaiting the Winter Ice Swan song
So now, for me, it does behoove
To brave the cold-to walk, run, MOVE.
Strive to recall the words of my Walker's Prayer.
I grab my sweats, and start to yank 'em up...
Cuss my washer that must have shrank 'em up.
I find, "What's this???" They do not fit!
So, from Immediate Necessity, I recommit
To losing the Winter-accrued extra layer.
So, pulling out my walking shoes
And strapping them on, the pounds to lose
And, I take off walking, and, Lo! I behold
The rhythm, I once owned, got cranky and old.
Strive to recall the words of my Walker's Prayer.
As I trundle-lurching-down the street
I curse my ankles, my knees, my feet.
I find my cadence, (but now it is behind me?)
Added rebound, the extra beat to remind me
To losing the Winter-accrued extra layer.
I shake off the winter, as I blast into Spring
And as I am walking, I discover something...
A disheartening fact, and sad, but true!
And I will share this truth with you...
There is more bounce
To the ounce.

got a new bounce and shake
All the weeks of waiting in kind
added more to not only my mind
but a few pounds had I acrued
with all that winter comfort food.
Good stuff :)
it reminds me of ......well me !!!!!!
(I am stalking Joy -- if only that added to my step count...)
All tickle my shaking belly
I will not whine, I'll walk the line
You and spring have come to tell me
To shed dreaded pounds of mine!
My husband and I both quit smoking over a year ago. That, coupled with many lifestyle changes and the onset of menopause, has caused me to escalate by a bit more than 40 lbs. In the past week, we've jumped on this bandwagon. Salads and light beer. ;o)
We've also started walking and the cold is killing us. My knees are killing me. My ankles are revolting. My hips are screaming. But, dang! It feels so good!
a little more jiggle than wiggle
and I ain't talkin jello
Congratulations!
Thankfully there was one good side effect to my surgeries and medicines I have had this year. During the surgeries I lost weight and now on all this pain med i am not that hungry very often. Can't wait till I get some energy back or at least get released to physical therapy so I can start exercising again! LOL
Congratulations on your win! Brava!!
