I admit that title is a little vague. :)
Here's what happens:
1) I look at my Gather page.
2) I notice my Gather connections' comments.
3) Said comments are posted to an article. Said comments usually contain nothing but the usual 'this is how many points and friends I have' stuff.
4) I'm horribly nosy, so I click on the article link.
5) I'm told that I don't have permission to view said article.
6) I'm sad. :( Boo hoo.
7) I go about my business, and then repeat the process over again when another comment to said article/articles appears a few hours later and my curiosity gets the best of me again.
So... why am I seeing these comments when they've been posted to what I assume is a private group? Shouldn't the comments be private as well, and not viewable to ME, since I'm clearly not cool enough to be a member of said group?
I'm sure you can figure out who you are if you're one of the posters referenced above ;) and I don't really care what you're doing because it's not about you. But I DO wonder what the deal is - why can I see your comments? Has anyone else noticed this?

I had a few of those today as well. I even checked out the members profile and didn't see it listed there either.
If you're able to view the comments, then you should be able to see the content that the comments are posted to. I can't think of a situation where this wouldn't be the case. Thus, I believe that this is likely to be a glitch. I suggest that you notify the person(s) and inform them of the situation. They will then need to contact Gather and get the problem resolved.
The comments may not be from a private group, as it is possible that the content was restricted to specific 'friends' for some reason.
I got up the nerve to post a link in an email for the first time and totally screwed it up. (figures!)
It said what you said about not having permission. Sometimes that page is just a bad link.
