Hubby said he would get me two new kittens of my own. So we started looking in the newspaper for kittens, and found an ad that had two kittens for sale. They were $3.00 each, the lady said she didn't want to charge, but figured if she did, they would not be used for any type of animal testing. They were not brother and sister, but got along well together. We were sold on them, hubby paid her, and they were soon my new best friends Dusty and Misty.
This month they both turn 18 years old. We had our share of vet bills through the years, Dusty got sick more than Misty did, but always managed to pull through some tough times. Misty was diagnosed with the beginning of kidney disease. That was about the same time as the recent pet food scare. That scared me. The Vet did all types of tests on Misty, I had her there three times in a six month period, and was glad she got to come home every time. She has to eat special food, so it doesn't progress as fast.
So in honor of my cat, I am celebrating their 18th Birthday this month. Thanks for coming along for their birthday!
This is when they both used to sleep on a bugs bunny pillow together. This was taken a few years ago, they don't sleep together much anymore.

Tiger has always been the senior citizen and wise one of the house and pretty much establishes his dominance over all other animals within days of them coming to live with him. Prince is the best dog I have ever had and he will be 8 years old this year. he is a 100 pound Rottie/Lab combo that has about 90 pounds or so on Tiger. He was bigger than Tiger from the first day that he came to the house. yet Tiger went high on whatever piece of furniture he could find and would bat Prince silly a few times in the head any time that Prince would mess with him. Funny thing is that he and Prince became friends a short time after that and Prince has respected him and not bothered him ever since. The other two cats Prince will occasionally chase and play with and it's funny because if I want to have the cats move from something they shouldn't be doing all I have to say is "Prince, cat" and he will look around, find them and immediately chase them. Except for tiger that is, if I say "Prince, cat" because Tiger is somewhere he shouldn't be, Prince will look around and chase one of the other cats, even if they are lying down somewhere minding their own business. tiger he completely leaves alone. Funny thing is that it isn't about fear of Tiger with Prince, it is more respect for him!
My Rocky and Beau are not lap cats, which I really miss having a kitty on my lap while watching TV.

I have a cat too, he's about four years old.
I was always more of a cat person but my husband is severly allergic. The doctor told me we had a choice, our cat or my husband. My husband swears I paused!
Cats are my favorite critters, although I like dogs and everything else too as long as it doesn't try to bite or eat me.
I had a black cat that lived with me for 21 years - we moved eleven times together. I still miss her sometimes.

I'm so happy for you that Dusty and Misty are having their 18th birthday.
That has to be a tremendous blessing.
My oldest kitty will be 16 this coming june and she is the oldest cat I've ever had, so far.
We tried to get our cat to live that long but she got cancer.
