Well, Your sourdough starter should be just about ready if you started it when I posted the directions. Now comes the fun part. Baking with your own homemade starter. Someone ask me if they had to give the starter away. No, you can just begin baking with it. I submitted this post back before I had a camera. I will try to get a photo the next time I make it and add it to this post.
My personal rating for this recipe is 5 Star.
Chocolate cake is one of every-body's favorites so I will start with this recipe:
 Sourdough Chocolate Cake
2/3 cup shortening
1 2/3 cup sugar
1 cup sourdough starter
1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
2/3 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla
Cream together shortening and sugar. Add eggs one at a time. Beat well after each addition. Blend in sourdough starter. Sift together dry ingredients. Add flour mixture to shortening mixture alternately with 1 cup water and vanilla. Mix at low speed. Pour into two 9 inch layer pans, well greased and floured.Â
Bake in a 350 degrees oven for 35 minutes. frost with your favorite frosting.
This is one of the best Chocolate cake recipes that I have ever seen. It is so moist and I am betting you will love it.
