I went to my doctors yesterday to try to figure out why I having been having diarrhea weekly for over 2 months now. Also, about 2 weeks ago, I noticed that my stomach looked bloated, and I was having a pulsing feeling on the upper right side of my abdomen.
I told my doctor my symptoms, and he listened to my digestive tract. He wanted to know if I had ever had a colonoscopy! I was so scared he was going to ask me to have one, and thankfully he changed his mind and instead ordered an Upper GI and Small Intestine CT Scan for me. It is going to take somewhere between 1-5 hours for the full test, so I am going to have my husband watch the kiddo, and make sure I bring a good book. The doctor thinks that I have IBS (spastic colon) and that is the reason for the bloating, and dirrhea. He thinks that the pulsing that I've been feeling is the spasm in my digestive tract.
For now, I've been put on Dicyclomine to stop the spasms and hopefully clear up the bloat and dirrhea. I am a little nervous taking the medication, since I found a warning on the web that this medication shouldn't be taken by women who are breastfeeding because it can transfer into the breastmilk and cause sleep apnea in the children. I called the doctors office about it, and they said that if I was uncomfortable about taking it, to stop, but it should be fine since it is such a low dose.
I think that this started for me because of stress, because I internalize stress too much, instead of getting rid of it.
Anyone else out there with IBS? How do you treat it? What have you found that has worked?

My sister was diagnosed around 5 years ago after being hospitalized with problems. Since then she has learned which foods she can eat and which she cannot. It is somewhat different for each person so you should try keeping a food diary.
She has a lot of problems with many hard to digest foods such as corn, broccoli, certain apples.
Since she regulated her diet however she has not had to use medication. Good luck
I hope you get everything figured out soon!
Does you stomach swell and get real hard and then hurt and cramp? Do you go in bouts of diarrhea and constipation? Those are sure signs of it. Alot does have to do with what you eat but just as much has to do with stress.
Good luck!
honestly id pay attention to that drug warning.
