When I finally get my paperwork turned in (seriously, how long have I been saying this??), I plan to use my Gather points/cash towards Walt Disney World.
I have not cashed out since December 30th, so this is basically all my earnings for 2008.

Maybe it'll be up to $150 by the time I cash out. Just today, I've gone up from 7,468 points, or $2.64.
My method right now is rating stuff. I leave the occasional comments, and today I've posted two articles (counting this one), but 95% of my time on gather is rating pictures. I pull up a person's page, click images, and just rate and hit next, over and over. I've had some great jumps, and I've seen some really neat pictures.
Right now, I'm on Sophie S's (http://morenita.gather.com/) pictures. She has some great pictures from the world- Denmark, Italy, Costa Rica, Spain, and more. She has great pictures!

I've also done a few others with 10-20 pictures that I don't remember.

I get them consistantly month to month since last summer, and sometimes it came on the 2nd of the next month, sometimes it came 6 weeks later. It's just when they go through and sort them and send em out.

I posted a few pin photo's and a few articles and last night a few were rated at 10, a few had comments.
I checked this morning I see all have been hit by low ratings, this really upsets me.
I wish Gather staff would require the 1 raters to leave the reason why they rate 1, that is all I want to know. I am not a child to have to rate their stuff 1', or say anything against them. I wouls just like to know why they rated my stuff as they did.
The bottom line is that a rating system encourages people to applaud or negate the effort a person takes in putting a photo up. The point of the rating should be based on the quality of a photo, and the subject of a photo- not the popularity of the person posting it.
There are very few pictures on this site that I would consider to actually BE 10's on a 1-10 scale. Blurred images get 10's just as much as pictures that are great. Great pictures get 1's just as much as overly pixalated pictures. I just stopped putting stock in what people rated items at a long time ago, and I feel much better for it.
I faithfully rate things with a 10, despite quality- just as 90% of the people here do. It doesn't always mean I feel the picture is fabulously artisit, or a great photogenic subject. But, 10's are valued, not 9's or lower.
