Footsteps lost in the Sand
carrying sorrows and disappointments
Night light has come, Please...?
Walk Away...
Oppression of a mind
is carried by unscrupulous deception,
forcing Shadows into the Sea,
swimming against an eminent current.
Dear to whisper, windfalls
hide their corpses underneath
a dark Horizon.
Periodically a sunrise comes searching
for a place too reminisce a new beginning.
As fear knocks an each door
pursuing lost soul,
Angels Descent.....Giving us inner strength
to conquer our fears....

There is so much melancholy in your poetry. I feel your pain but I am hopeful, for as you say you are "holding on to a promise of forgiveness."
Our emotions are a rich source of prose and poetry. I am grateful for receiving your gift.
Thank you,
Maya

I know I'm taking them out of context, but that's a reader's prerogative. We often read something into a poem the author either never intended or didn't realize was there. I like these two lines because, while they suit this poem, they also offer a slightly different image depending on whether or not the reader puts a period after the preceding word, "underneath". I like poems like this that offer a number of different interpretations. Some poems seem obvious, others like this are a bit ambiguous as to what the meaning of the poem is or what the poem is about. I often want to ask my readers to tell me what a particular poem was about, rather than whether they thought it was good or they liked it, etc.
For me this poem holds a number of meanings: the moments after a nightmare; the moments before a new day with the author having escaped another night; the moment after recalling a bad memory. For me this is a poem of hope: shedding whatever the past held for a fresh start.
