I was musing this morning while reading comments on a recent article of mine. I had a thought that I figured I should share with my fellow Gather cash program participants. I'd really like your feedback.
I've long-suspected that it's harder for those on the cash option to earn 'points' than it is for the average Gather bear. (Eg, that it takes us more ratings, etc. to go up $1 than it does for someone NOT on the cash program to earn 63 points.)
To prove that this is NOT the case, I'd like to see Gather re-vamp the system, and allow us to see both our dollar amount AND the corresponding number of points we've acquired. This would go a long way toward insuring ME that the system is equal across the board. After all, if we've contributed on Gather enough to have earned the cash option, don't we deserve to be earning at the same rate as someone on the standard point program?
Anyway, what are your thoughts? Does the idea of being able to see BOTH your dollar amount AND your corresponding point total appeal to you? Or are you happy with things as-is?

That's an EXCELLENT idea! I think it should be fair across the board, especially since those of us on cash have reached a record HIGH of points in a given month to give us the cash option. We shouldn't earn at a slower rate, we should earn more if anything.
I would LOVE to see this implemented. After all, gather does say we can go back to points at any time....why not show us what we would be making?
1) We should have a points/cash section, to show our cash total as well as how many points we've earned.
2) They should add the cents to our total, rather than only seeing it go up when it hits another $1.
3) Cash participants should still have the option to get gift cards whenever they want, while still keeping the cash option.
As far as switching back and forth... I'm sure I'm in the dark ages, but that's really not possible? For some reason, I thought it was. Or is it that you can go back to GCs, but then you can't do cash again?

To answer your question above, cash participants can request to be enrolled in, or brought back to, the gift card program, but I think Gather would frown upon you wanting to switch back to cash later on. They might do it, but you may need to qualify again, and I doubt that they would let you flop back and forth continually.
When I suggested being able to ask for gift cards while still on the cash option, I meant like if you had $100 racked up and wanted to take $50 in cash to your PayPal account and the other $50 as a gift card or something like that.
Know what I mean?
I would like to see both points and cash on a 'cash program' account. I mean, we are active enough to earn cash, why not be able to also 'buy' a gift card when we wanted it as well? Doesn't seem to me like it would be too terribly a difficult task to do.
Ditto with cents. Every online program I have done shows cents. .. why not gather?
