I am guilty of watching some celebrity infused reality programs. After all I am on bedrest and you can only watch so many reruns before venturing out to some new channels. But one thing that I have noticed, Alot of washed up, D list stars are trying to make a comeback on TV.
Take Carnie Wilson, who of course started out in the group Wilson-Phillips in the late 1980's. Then she was in multiple commercials for the institution that performed her gastric-bypass surgery. As soon as those ended, she was on VH1's Celebrity Fit club, did diffrent infomercials for products "as seen on TV", She did a cameo on Supernanny when her sister was a guest on the show, then did the Country Televisions Gone Country where she aspired to become a counrty singer.
There's Austin "Screech" Powers that has done everything from pornography to talk shows and now the new Celebrity Fit Club's Boot Camp starting the end of this month. But we all remember him from Saved By the Bell.
How many more must I count? Adrianne Curry, the America's top Model winner who went to do the Surreal life, then to star in My Fair Brady and the sequel about her and her married life to Peter Brady.
I know these are people that just want to extend their 15 or so minutes of fame, but is there a limit? Some I was happy to see. For instance the Salt N Pepa Show tied up the loose ends for the fans that supported them after the ubrupt split of the duo from the '90's. And Scott Baio is 46 and Pregnant showed Scott as a normal man going through the the healthy emotions of expecting a baby.
Regardless of your opinion on these celbreality shows, alot of people are watching them. I was accually suprized to see myself get engrossed in these people's lives!
