Last week, amid lots of excitement and fanfare, Gather introduced Friend Sets to the site. This optional feature allows you to organize your friends into meaningful, personal sets. So… what do you think of the upgrade? Is it useful, fun, easy to use, relevant to you and your life? What are the pros and cons? The CEO wants to know!
Please join Gather's CEO Tom Gerace TODAY (3/11) at 5pm ET for a live chat. Tom will answer your questions about the latest Gather upgrade (we call it Guthrie); give you a sneak peek at some of the cool enhancements that are just around the corner, and answer any questions you may have about life here on Gather.
It's your chance to talk to the big kahuna… we hope you'll join us today 5pm!

Thanks for that, as well.
I will be sure to be at the discussion.
Thanks for the info.
Also, what is being done to protect our pictures? Anything at all? We can do some but we are only an individual.
I believe that a new discussion article will be published by Tom to the "Building a Better Gather" group (improve.gather.com) a few minutes before the start time.

Just to weigh in on pictures posted, I would not even look at a picture that has a watermark or I could not download and use for a backdrop or save for my personal image gallery. What is the point?
I just got one today that I deleted from account: SCAM-amanda50-SCAM
I just wanted to mention them in case you have no seen them, which you probably have, maybe that is a test?

We, as photographers (granted I'm not a great one, but still) like to assure people do respect that the photo is OUR property and do not use it elsewhere for monetary gain.
In light of finding THREE people on Gather that are using other's images for their own monetary gain, I can completely understand why the watermark. In fact, I might try to learn how to make some on mine as well... though we should NOT have to resort to mudding up our photos and distorting the quality just to share them here.
I bought a new 7.1 mp camera in Dec to share BETTER quality photos, not to make them look horrible with writing and low resolution. *sigh*
Bruce, if y'all don't stop stealing photos, there isn't going to be anything WORTH stealing (or even looking at). Have you taken a look at the images posted recently compared to what was going up not too long ago, before this latest uncovering of copyright issues? With some exceptions, there isn't much of quality coming in, so I guess you can go ahead and steal to your heart's content - if you WANT the stuff.
Thanks John, it would be nice if there were a button or something to make that easier. I think I have gotten about 3 spam emails like that so far and do not always have the time or energy to send an email.
> do not use it elsewhere for monetary gain.
I've never used anyone's photograph for monetary gain, and to call what I am going stealing Marilyn is just incorrect and "anal". If I buy a magazine I am within my rights to scan images from it as long as I do not claim they are mine or use them commercially, and even that is legal for something like a collage or different art form. I am also one of the only people I know on the net that has never downloaded a song or video illegally. Get a clue people, what kind of a world do you want anyway? Pretty soon we'll have to insert coins into our own eyes and ears to be able to go out into the world.
