Wal-mart doesnt do price matching for all ads!

I seriously did not know that Wal-mart doesnt do price matching for any ad you bring in. I thought if you find the price lower somewhere else they had to give you the same item at the same price but I can understand why they wouldnt because they could loose so much money. I guess they only do it with competitors ads because I had an ad for The Christmas tree shops and the item at that store was 1.99 and 4.99 for items that are at walmart for 19.99 and 29.99. They wouldnt let me have the items at Wal-mart for the same price they were in the ad for at the other store. I was mad but figured there must be some clause in there price matching policy so I didn't bother to argue it. Anyone have any idea if there is some kind of rule for which ads they will accept to price match? Have you experienced this in the past? They told me they couldn't do the price match because The Christmas tree shops carries discontinued items. I suppose that is why the prices were so low there on the item I wanted!

They also won't price match Big Lots- most items at Big Lots (and I'm guessing the Christmas Tree Shop) are discontinued items that are not always stocked at other stores- flavors no longer offered, sizes, even packaging, etc.

It has to be exactly the same item and size to get price matching. Walmart is pretty strict about that.

My Walmart will price match CC. It depends on how close the store, is, though, too. If the store isn't in the same town, or on the opposite side of a large town, they won't price match.

I avoid Wal*Mart altogether, as I am adamant about not supporting that type of retailer. Anyway, when they renege on their price matching policy, why not demand that they either honor the lower price or give you a document showing why they won't. After all, since when is Wal*Mart actually interested in any type of ethics?

I refuse to shop at WalMart due to their deplorable morals so it is not a store I know much about. I avoid Christmas Tree Shops also as they once stole the design of an artisan I know and I know that this is a pretty common thing for them to do. Most big box and discount stores aren't known for being very moral but WalMart and Christmas Tree Shops are two of the worst I know of.

Hahaha. I prefer Target as well. But wal-mart is much closer. I do go to Target about every 3 months. After I get out of my doctors appointment.

I've never really asked about or done the price comparison...I shop at both walmart and Christmas tree shop - with gas prices going up, food prices going up - I shop where I can get the lowest prices on things...in my opinion target is way more expensive that Walmart - and I'm not always a fan of their brands...

Wal-Mart only price-matches stores that are 'in their area' -- which can be very loose or very strict. They almost never match internet prices or prices from another city.

I realize I am late on this, but I just left Wal-Mart and they wouldn't price match for an advertisement for Wal-Greens. Their signage does not disclude anything, nor does it state that it is up to management to decide what to refuse. However, at the store that is exactly what they claimed...that it is left up to the store manager. So. I got their 1-800-WalMart number...that's the customer service line. I'm calling them in the morning and asking them to either honor their sign and give me the discount (I'm talking a whopping $1.25 at that...) or explain to me why they are refusing my business. I'll let you know how it goes!
