I found a dog

This morning when I took Rosie out front a Boston Terrier ran up to us.  He was wearing a collar and seems pretty friendly, though he ducked when I went to touch him.  I brought him in and took him to the vet to see if he had a microchip.  He does, but it is registered to some microchip company that is only open Monday-Friday.  I left a message, but they had a message to call AVID if you found a dog.  (Now how would I have YOUR number if I hadn't already done that!)  I gave them the lot number and microchip number and hopefully they have some records.  If that doesn't work, I will call the shelter tomorrow to see if anyone reported him lost, then ask a co-worked that raises Bostons if she can help.  Hopefully, she will be able to take him until we can either locate the owner or find a new home (after awhile).

I got one of my dogs that way. He did not have a license and there was no contact information oin his collar. I filed found reports at local shelters, but no one claimed him. Si now Frankie is mine.

It is a shame you had to go through the rigamorall of the #s............I was under the aasumption that if the animal had a chip, they would be reunited right away to the owner................So much for that thought.................thx for sharing......... :O)

Pat, the owner has to REGISTER the chip or the company will just tell you who bought the chip (company). For me, I buy directly from Avid, so I don't have to do anything else for my contact info to be given.

I hope the dog can get reconnected with his owner, or if not, that he can find a great home. Boston's aren't that common and are usually expensive, so the dog probably has an owner searching for him.

That was great you are trying to find the owner, if they had the chip installed you know they are missing that dog!!

Let us know how the microchip works when the day is done, so to speak. My dogs are microchipped, and I'm hoping if they get lost it will bring them back to me.
Thank you for taking the time to be kind to this dog. So many people will not even bother. The few, like yourself, that take the time to be kind & considerate, really help to make our world a better place. I don't say that lightly.
I don't know if you read my recent article about our dog Pepper, that we thought we had found the perfect home for....only to find her dumped on the side of the road a month & 1/2 later. The disregard for life amazes me.

I hope the chip company will be able to get in touch with the owners & that will be reunited with their doggie~

I think the ducking is instinctual unless you've given him the chance to sniff you first, and that's if you've also squatted down to his level. I've been told that's the way to go so the dog isn't intimidated and on the laert for attack. Of course, if it were abused I would think it would have been more leery of human beings. Glad she at least found you, a caring person who would take the time to call around and attempt to find her mommy and daddy!

The more I read about this pup the mader I get at the careless ower.Just by the looks of the pictures you took I think he's about 2 no more than 3 and I'm glad you found him.

Debra, I was told he is actually 9! I was guessing the same thing 2 or 3.
