My wife and I have a beagle named Lucy, and she's a little over a year old. She's a typical hyper beagle that runs 100 mph through the house and likes to chew anything that will fit in her mouth. So far, we've found only one thing that truly calms her down, and it's her collar.
Even if she's bouncing-off-the-furniture hyper, all we have to do is put on her collar and she'll immediately flop on the floor and act like it weighs a hunded pounds. The collar is very small and not at all tight, but for some reason is just breaks her little spirit when we put it on her. I think it's kind of funny because she calms down and minds us and everything.
We have never hit her with the collar or anything, so I don't think she is scared of it. The only time we put it on her is when we walk her down the street or take her out, so it doesn't always have a negative impact. I guess she just doesn't like being restrained.
As soon as we take the collar off, she goes back to full speed and starts running around again. It's crazy. I need to make a video of it one day to prove it. I show my friends this phenomenon and they think it is hilarious.
Does your dog have any weird quirks?

pet in particular made all of us laugh hysterically (spelling?)
We had a pet Rabbit he was angora fluffly like a cat was.
He would come in the house, knew how to open the screen
door!! The rocking chair with the big stuffed pad was his fav.
chair. If anyone tried to get him to move he would beat that
pad with his back feet and make a squealing noise that would
frighten us kids. So he held onto that chair.
with my Mom and saw "Bugs Bunny' curled up in
that chair then walked over to pet him. His ears
popped and frightened her just a tad!!
and Mr. Peepers would fly into him soon's he got
near him then he would bite my Dad on his ears.
Of course all us kids thought it was funny! LOL
