I passed that river just last week, Charli--the river of the mission on the bank, where wide, gray green stretches of myriad crops run into low hills suitable only for cattle, until grapes became the agriculture of choice. I wonder what those vaqueros think of these happenings? I should have left an offering in the plate as I passed it, but then I was a twenty first century pedestrian and didn't know what I saw until your poem showed it to me in the glory of a cinquain.
