It's a sad, sad day today!

Today it was announced that Green Bay Packer Quarterback Brett Favre will retire. As a huge Packers fan, this was devastating news to hear. I sat for most of the day in my living room with my Packers Blanket in my #4 Jersey and just couldn't believe that this day has come. I wanted him to play forever. He is truly a living legend and will be a definite Hall of Famer.

Felt the same way when Elway retired. Favre was also one of the great ones.
About time- another season or two, and he'd break a hip out there.

Let us not forget there are two sides to Favre including addiction...I have no problem with honoring his football playing ability, but he isn't someone I would want my students to pick for a role model.

Just my opinion....not trying to offend !
I want to cry. I had heard it rumored it was coming but it still makes me sad! Where am I going to get my dose of hottie on Monday nights? lol He truly is my all time favorite and I'm going to miss him!

I would have rather seen him play in the Super Bowl against the Pats this past season before his retirement, but I think it is time. It's best to move on while you're still on your game somewhat than to be asked to leave as a washed-out former superstar. Brett's always had pretty good timing.

I'm not a real football fan so this isn't affecting me any. I hadn't even heard that he was retiring. I guess I need to watch the news more often.

I don't know why, but when I got up today, my wife threw me one of my Packers t-shirts to wear. She hadn't heard any news of the retirement. I donned my packers hat and off we went to run some errands. I received the sad news from a security guard at the front gate to the base.

As long as I've really followed football, Brett Favre has always been the Packers quarterback. I can't imagine watching a Packers game without him on the field.

It is a sad day for Packer fans. Nice of everyone to offer comments, even those who don't follow football. I have to comment that Favre made public his drug issue years ago and went into rehab. I haven't seen any other negative news about him, but maybe I haven't looked hard enough. His drug addiction was to Vicodin after receiving it for pain management. Not a nice thing, but not the worst thing ever. I would be happy to use him as an example for young people to show that no one is perfect or immune to walking off the path, but being honest and receiving help are admirable qualities.

I'm sorry for your disappointment. My son felt the same about Dan Marino, years ago. Then he got older and discovered women. Football comes in second for him now, thank goodness, because I thought he was going to kill himself trying to be a quarterback. If you can imagine a 90 pound quarterback, all skin and bones...I winced every time he hit the field...and he hit the field, face down, plenty!
