100 WORD STORIES Week 4 - CHALLENGE

100 word stories . . . no more and no less than 100 words.  This time we were given the first 26 words: ""There was music, the kind that never went away: the Stones and the Doors, Janis Joplin, very early Pink Floyd. It was one of those evenings."  ...And we're OFF!

The Night The Music Died

"There was music, the kind that never went away: the Stones and the Doors, Janis Joplin, very early Pink Floyd. It was one of those evenings.  I can still hear it, but it's so faint now." 

The leather restraints cut into his wrists.

"Do you think it'll ever go away completely?" he asked the man in white, furiously scribbling on his pad.

"Of course . . ."

"Then what?"

"I . . . I . . . don't know.  What do you think?  Look, time's up.  Rest and we'll talk tomorrow."

The door clanged shut, . . . and the music mercifully ended.

Here's what I'd do: "Man, that's just a bunch of old fart '70s stuff. Couldn't you put some Nirvana or Pearl Jam or something from the last 25 years on there?"

Then I took his records and one by one threw them out the window and blasted them with my .45 like clay pigeons. I followed this up by chucking his cranky old record player and its refrigerator-sized speaker into the Dumpster.

On my way out I tossed him an iPod. "Welcome to the 21st Century."

(That might be too long. Whatever.)

I took a pain pill and I've already admitted to cutting down the cherry tree and now the weather channel says we're going to have 7 inches of cloud dandruff and I don't have any Head and Shoulders. Sorry, but my restraint is gone.

Second off . . . LAINIE! I am the undisputed King of Cool so you can take the "...you're not quite there yet." comment, add "It was wrong for me to say . . . " to the front and write it out in cursive on the black board 500 times! (and no holding one of those stick doo-hickies that hold five pieces of chalk at once, either)!

Marge, no worries Lass! And Joy . . . there are no stupid rules. Only stupid people and stupid entries. Luckily . . . I'm intrigued at the way in which you used "very" in such a unique way! I can't think of any time I've seen 67 consecutive "very"s in a row. So you're neither and your creative article is . . . I think I can safely say . . . is one of a kind!
