Tips:
- To make smoother transitions from color to color, consider joining with new color in the center stitch of a different peak. This helps to avoid obvious bulkiness where tails are tucked.
- Tuck your tails as you go: the top of the stitches form v's. Go under the v with the tail and pull it up between the two yarns (coming up between them) four to five times, then backtrack two to three times. As you crochet over these stitches, your tail will be securely hidden as you go, and you will not have to go back at the end to tuck in your ends. See pictures in images section for examples of this (upper right corner of this page).

Hi Monica
What's the thickest yarn that you have used? Can you use a Redheart Super?
Thanks
Redheart Super Saver is a size 4 worsted weight yarn. It is thinner than this yarn, but would work. I actually prefer to use a big hook with Red Heart Super Saver because it tends to be kindly rough if you do not use a big hook. You can tell a huge difference between a j hook and a K hook. You could even get away with an L hook on that yarn to make it really soft and slightly bigger than the finished size of this afghan.
Size 5 bulky is the thickest yarn I have used, but there is variety within that, from the thinner version used here to really thick and luxurious Lion Brand Home Spun (my favorite, if I could afford it!).
So your saying that I could use Redheart Super Saver to make the Dogwood? I'm confused now. Your pattern says you used Bernat Softee, is that correct or did I read that incorrectly.
You are not commenting on the Dogwood afghan. I did not use Bernat Softee for that one - I used it on this pattern. But yes, you could use Red Heart Super Saver, it just would not look exactly the same and would not be as soft.
This is the afghan you are talking about:

One question, would it be possible to square this out? Know what I mean?
Found this comment of yours to me -- is this the one you thought was deleted?
Breathtaking beautiful!
Monica I have a problem with the ripple afghan I was making I made it for my boy it is a spiderweb but I was going to fill in the sides to make it a bedspread but for some reason it doesn't lay flat it curves under and I was wondering if you could tell me what I did wrong. I was putting the Webs on and spread it out on the bed and it starts about halfway through, I am going to finsh it and giv e it to my 5 year old daughter because she also loves Spiderman and she want one to wrap up in and watch TV so if it doesn't lie flat she won't maind at all. So I plan to get started on another one soon any Idea would be helpful.
I have not tried the spiderman one at all, so I am not sure. It is not doing this until you add the web part? Perhaps your stitches are too tight?
No I didn't notice til I went to add the web part I spread it out on the bed to look at it and about halfway through the blanket I screwed up sometihing because it doesnt lie flat it does in the middle til about halfway out then it messes up.
Hmm, not sure how you can fix it other than to just fudge it so it looks right even if it doesn't lay flat. Perhaps you can figure out what went wrong so your next one will lie flat.
I'd appreciate any help while I get started.
Thanks
