Wildwood Lake Sanctuary, on the outskirts of Harrisburg city, is a wetlands preserve with more than 5 miles of nature trails. Last year marked the sanctuary's 100th anniversary!

We strolled along the Delta Boardwalk, a wooden walkway that meanders through the wetland.
Then we wandered up Wildwood Way, a blacktop path used extensively for walking,

jogging and bike riding, to find Fox Run Trail - a .25 mile long dirt path with new bog bridges.
We came back along the East Shore Trail, a .9 mile long siol trail which parallels the edge of the lake and passes through wet woodlands that border an area containing mature hardwood trees. It was a great way to spend a beautiful afternoon and we definatley plan to return!

If you want to visit the Wildwood Lake sanctuary or just want to learn more, they have a great website at http://www.wildwoodlake.org
