Tim Berners- Lee brought about the Genesis of the internet as we know it today in December of 1990.
I am totaly amazed when I consider the fact that the world wide web is only in it's adolecense still. It is incredible how far we have come in the eighteen years that the world wide web has been in existence.
In that time we have gone from snail mail to split second e-mail. From doing research at the public library to clicking our way through a vast universe of knowledge in lightning speed. Where we used to sit with coffee in hand and chat on the telephone for hours on end with our significant other or our dear mother or friends we now sit with fingers spread and coffee on the desk and chat with one another in a cyber world where we can chat with many friends and family members at the same time. We can chat with Wong in China and Joe in Idaho.
There is no need for me to travel to a one hour photo lab. My digital camera and my computer will instantly share with you my favorite visual memories.
We have gone from sur names to user names, from phone numbers to web domains. We used to need numbers now we need passwords.
Alone or afraid there is no need to fret, I'm just a mouse click away on the internet.
We have been truly blessed with a much valued gift.
We can use it for business with profit to gain.
We can use it for pleasure and to measure our treasure.
We can use it to fight and we can use it to sin.
We can use it for comfort or to heal again.
Now I know there ar those out there that believe the internet will lead to the down fall of man. But I don't believe this for a cyber moment. In the few short years I have been on the net I have seen lives touched and made whole. I have seen friendships made that will last forever. I have seen families brought back together. I have seen marriages formed and it happened to me because of a singles chat room that was for free. I have seen the barriers of predudice and mistrust come tumbling down for many who share freely and openly thier beliefs in religion and polatics.
The bible says "prosper the work of our hands oh lord". May the lord truly prosper the work of our hands and our hearts as we seek to make the world in wich we live a better place for all by the use of the world wide web. Let us remember to thank our creator for the gift of wonderful minds and the power of invention. Because of one mind in a few short years the world has been made smaller and more accesible linked together in a web of micro fibers and digits and we have reaped many rewards because of it.
Where would Gather.com be? and where would the world be without Mr Lee?

Great article....the downfall is how we use the internet!
If we use it for mankind or to take someone down. The Internet could be used for good or bad. Just as long as we have a lot more people like you to help the net to be a healthy, safe, and Godly, we do not have to worry about it. We have our safety nets for the spam, and scammers. To think when I started College the computer was a typewriter with a printer. You never knew if anything was wrong till after you printed it out. We did come a long way!!
