We hadn't been to any garage sales in awhile and we figured we would do the family thing this morning and shop some of the sales in the area. We were happy with many of our buys.
The first sale we went to was benefitting US Naval Sea Cadet Corp Youth Development program. We paid $10 for everything we picked up there.
A hotwheels carwash filled with cars. The was either 50¢ or $1. Either way, great buy.

I got the sun and the moon mirror for $1

My husband found the buffer brand new in the box with the manual. $3

This art set was $1

The Hotwheels car carrier was 50¢

I got this wonderboard for my son

The robo pet was $2 and it works. The rest of the items in the picture were also bought at this sale.

The next sale we went to my husband got the stickers for $1 and my son got the eiffel tower for free.

The next sale had the toothpaste that I picked up for my son. 5¢ each. This is also a sale that had an end table that I liked but felt would be too big and at $20 was more than I wanted to spend.

We found a block sale and I picked up these plastic dessert dishes that I thought would be great for my son. $3

This next sale was very good for all of us. I got my end table, my son got some things for me to do with him as well as another art set, and my husband picked out a picture for the house.
This Discovery Kids game was $2

I picked up this other art set for $2. It has stamps in it as well as markers, paints and crayons.

This is the front of the case.

My husband found this Florida puzzle that has never been opened. $2

I found this kit to make paper birds with my son for $2.

My husband found this picture for the house. $8 More than we would normally spend but he really liked the colors and that it was small enough to go anywhere in the house.

Close up of the picture

My favorite buy was my end table for $5. It just need to be cleaned up a little. It still has the label from the Bombay company underneath it. It will look great with my $5 coffee table that we bought last year and my $10 sofa we bought at auction years ago. It was brand new and never sat on.

This was the last sale we went to. My son got a Koala Brothers playset and a Lion King play set as well as various other little toys for $11.25. More than we usually would pay but we have never seen a Koala brother playset before and my son was already playing with the airplane.

The woman also gave us a big Winnie the Pooh for free but apparently he didn't make the photos. Sorry!
I did get these hair scrunchies and hair clips for 25¢ each

My husband found this for my son for $5. A whole storage bin filled with Legos. It even had boats and cars for him to build with the Legos

My husband found two shirts. One for him pictured here and one for my son. The one for my son apparently didn't come out since it wasn't on the disk. It is a nice short sleeve button down shirt that he we bought him for 50¢. My husband's shirt was $1

We found this beach/park blanket set with the bag for $10. It is brand new and already in the back of the jeep.

My husband was trying to get my son to look at some toys in the box and my son found a robot that he wanted. Of course, nothing else was of interest to him. The woman that we asked the price of said it wasn't for sale and got in the box by accident. Apparently, it was the one thing that her boyfriend gave her in the 2 1/2 years that they dated. Ok, she is trying to reason with my son and my son wants no part of it. He just wants the robot. We finally get it back to her and she walks away. My husband was trying to calm my son down which of course he was able to do because there were these giant iron bug scuptures on the lawn. The other lady there that sold me the playset gave me the pants for my son for free because she felt so bad about the way her friend reacted.

what would your husband use the stickers for? they look like theyre for an automobile.
I see a few things we would have picked up money providing. :)
Thanks for posting to All Photo Essays Here. Sorry I'm only just now getting here to view and comment.
Lori, the stickers are actually for an aircraft. I think more of a personal aircraft. My husband works in aviation but mostly commercial aircraft but he may come across someone that can use them. Other than aviation collecting, I would have no idea why he would buy them. lol
Fortunately, that is not the case here. But I remember how cold it would up north this time of year.
Jennifer, we usually work it as a team. Sometimes if one of us is watching our son (ME!) the other keeps an eye out for what the other likes or sees something the other misses. They can be alot of fun.
A great deal, steal or bargain is alot of fun! We love them Deb.
Thank you j r!
Thank you Larry.
Shannon, I love the moon and stars mirror! When I saw it I knew I had to have it. For $1 I couldn't go wrong. I thought the sticker on the Legos was cute too. My husband found them and my son has been having a ball with them all week.
Thank you Vickey.
Thanks Jennifer. It takes time to find the right neighborhoods and sales that work for us. I think we finally found them. I think it took almost a year before we finally were able to get past only buying for my son. There are a few sales that are ongoing monthly that we can do very well at. But we always have fun being on the hunt!
Thank you B F!
Thank you Phyllis! My husband tightened up the table and I cleaned it up and polished it and put it in the living room where I wanted it. You would never know I paid $5 for it.
Thank you Amanda. I will have another article up for yesteday's buys too.
Thank you Kimber!
Thank you Kay! I love that both tables we bought cost us only $5 each.
We did Denise. Thanks!
Just tell me when April! lol
It seemed to be the weekend for art kits Victoria. I never see them at the sales and for the price Michael can play with them and I don't care what happens to them. We lucked out with the cars. We found most of the sales that are done for a cause down here are extremely reasonable. Some people seem to donate things that really should be just thrown away. I guess if they give to a charity they feel less guilty.
Sarina, you really should both go. I will be doing an article today of what we bought yesterday. My husband did very well. It takes time to find the right places to go sometimes but when you hit it right it is so worth it. You just have to decide if it is worth what they are asking. We have gotten a really good deal with a $500 Snapper lawnmower for $100 that was originally $500. Original reciept and paperwork with it and hardly used. That article is here
You are lucky to be able to get to the sales on your way to work and check them out on the way home. We do very well with toys for my son at the sales. I am glad you liked the article too!
