February 29th is that time when all those people who were born on this day can take three out of every four years off their life.
If you are forty, you could say you are ten, because your birthday only comes once every four years.
I kind of wish that were me.
I would like to shave a few years off my age.
It does make for some good jokes.
This year, it only makes the winter longer, and this has been a long enough winter.
I was at the hospital today, because my mom broke her hip.
Since Gather makes me feel better, I had to post this.
It is good to gather with friends!
Here is a toast to those five to twenty year olds, who are forever young because of this day!!

George, I hope your mom is doing OK. I'm always concerned my mother will do the same thing. So far, so good. She's 92.
Blessings to you and your entire family ~
Rene
You know, cowhands are a dying breed and he might have been one of the last. He worked different spreads during different seasons. We would see him during a time when we gathered up cattle on Devils Mesa. He was a little fellow, about 5' 5" or so.
He wore a white cowboy hat, that had seen better days. He hadn't married yet, was very nervous around women and related to us kids better. He often would blush around me, because, I think, at 14, I was becoming a woman and he was all too aware of that. However, he never said anything out of line to me and was always a gentleman.
I remember on his birthday, we all laughed about the fact that in just a couple of months I would be twice his age. My mom made him a cake and we bought some small presents. I think I got him a couple of blue hankies. My sister gave him some socks. We had a dinner of fried catfish, fried potatoes and green beans. We thought we had it made, in those days.
My Feb 29th this year wasn't so exciting but it was nice to remember Shorty. All these years later I wonder if he found a lady and got married and settled down. I sure hope so. He was quite a fella.
George, how is your mother? I hope she is feeling better today, getting stronger before the surgery, or has that already occured? Don't forget to keep us in the know. All our prayers are with you. namaste
Secondly, when asked my Daddy, also gone, would always give his age as 10 yrs younger---then he's smile and say '' WELL THERE WAS THOSE TEN YEARS I WENT BAREFOOT---BUT I DON'T COUNT THOSE." Welcome to March. Lonnie Fowler
