A boat ride through Chicago.

You can take a boat tour on Lake Michigan for a day, a dinner or even several days.  They are wonderful but most people don't know about the river tours.  Wendella boat tours.  Tour guides provide educational insight about Chicagos rich history and magnificent architecture.  They follow the Chicago river through Old Chicago.

If you ever get there and have the time, take the river boat tour.  It's pretty neat.  You see a lot & learn a lot of history.

Great shots of the city Nancy. I love the different look of the buildings I live by and walk past daily. My favorite time of year on the river is the parade of boat that takes place every spring and fall. Its almost time for the bridges to go up again

I just love Chicago. The architecture is fantastic. I haven't taken the boat tour, but I have walked around just to look at the buildings. Next time I am in Chicago, I will have to do this.

my hubby and I did that the last time we were there,,, about 3 years ago,, our honeymoon about 2 yr late,, I love chicago,, used to live here in the summer with my papa and his wife,,

Cool picture essay Nancy! When I was a young girl I got to ride the (then) Milwaukee Clipper from MI to WI. Was the lst and only time I have ever been on a ship! I remember to this day it was just awesome!!

When I was 4 (about 1957) we did this too - only the boats were a bit smaller then. I remember the really really tall buildings, thanks!

Awesome photos Nancy! I would love to get th Chicago and do this and many other things, including a Cubs Game at Wrigley! Terry was born in Chicago, but I don't think she remembers much since she became a Jersey girl by the time she was a year old!

I grew up in the Chicago area and heard many times that even though I thought I knew the city pretty well, I should take a ride with Wendella. I remember watching the tourists lining up at State Street and watching the boats go by while I sat on the train waiting for it to pull out of Union Station and take me home. Though some of the architecture in your photos didn't exist then, your photos make me wish I had taken the time to ride. I'll have to make it a point to get on the boat next time I visit my family. Thanks.

The Chicago river ride is a wonderful way to experience the work of many significant architects, old and new. A great time to visit is on St. Patrick's day, when the river turns an incredible shade of emerald green. This year's parade is set for 10:45 a.m., Saturday March 15th and can be best viewed from the upper level bridges at Michigan Ave or Columbus Drive. Sure wish we could be there -- our daughter is an industrial designer in this great American city!

I didn't have time for the river tour, but I did take the tour from the pier onto Lake Michigan, the 30-45 minute cruise. Not bad at all.
I lived in chicago for 30 years and never did the river tour...did the lake michigan tour though. Spent a few summers taking rides on my friend's dad's fishing boat too.

thanks for reminding me of my home town.
