For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
2 Peter 1:16
Last week, at our Bible study at the nursing home, we discussed the passage in John where Jesus encounters the Samaritan woman at Jacob's well. At one point, I paused and asked Sandy to describe for us the appearance of Jesus' companion.
"Let me see," she smiled. "She is barefoot and sunburnt - her skin is brown. She has a white scarf around her head because it is midday and the white linen is cool for her. She is wearing a blue chemise over a burgundy dress, no scarlet. . . no, wait; it's more wine-colored; yes, I'll say it's burgundy. There is stitchwork on the chemise; it's gold and at the bottom of her dress is some blue tuling, darker then her chemise. She has five bronze bracelets jingling on her right wrist. I think she is beautiful, although she has some wrinkles, with intelligent, piercing dark eyes and full, red lips. You can just see a wisp of her dark hair on her forehead just peeking out from her headpiece." She stopped and got a funny look on her face. Everyone waited for her to continue, we were used to these kind of descriptions from Sandy and we all wanted more.
"That it, hun?" I finally prompted her.
"No, right before she leaves to go back into town, she drops her waterpot. She turns and faces Jesus and her scarf and long hair become a flowing river of living water. This makes Jesus smile."
Sandy has been blind for over thirty-two years now.
And Jesus said, I came into this world to be a judge, so that those who do not see may see, and those who see may become blind.

Don't give up. There is someone out here that God is trying to reach and He is using you and this medium to reach that person or persons. You'll find out someday up there who that person was.
I enjoy these postings even though I am an avid user of the KJV. Too much is changed or lost in the new versions.
You are a brother who has been a great blessing to me, Mark. I don't know how many times my spirit has been wounded and bruised and I came to read some of your writing, only to be healed and restored.
Thank you and thank God for you.
I, too am a witness. I've seen God's miracle working power in so many areas of my life and the lives of others. But I remember this scripture. "Blessed is he who has not seen and yet believes." God has saints all around the world who died never seeing as much of him as I have seen. But I honor them. Would I have believed as strongly had I not seen? I can't say. I hope I would have, but I really can't say.
Harrel, you don't have to worry about my psyche; truth be told I don't write my articles to get comments. Don't get me wrong; I love reading comments and treasure the ones I receive but they aren't my motivation. I love to think about the Lord and praise Him and Gather has provided me with a medium to put down my thoughts in print.
Soli Deo Gloria!
Besides a couple of thoughtful, Spirit-filled comments beat a hundred "Nice article"'s anyday!
Bethany, it warms my heart that something I wrote was food for your soul. You know Who to thank for that. We're becoming fast friends, aren't we? PTL for that.
Doc, remember truth is more often than not stranger than fiction! Come to Lancaster and I'll introduce you to a special lady over at Lancashire Hall. In fact, there is a whole host of characters there that I'll bet you would cotton to being a caregiver yourself. Thanks for your comment today.
Debbie, You are my sister in Christ! Thank you for faithfully coming by and leaving those "Spirit-filled" comments that I was talking about above.
And Sue, I'm so excited! A new sister in Christ! Lord willing, I look forward to chatting with you as we go forward. Thanks for your kind words today.
Wishing you all His love and peace, -Mark
