When 17 year old Jonathan McCullum left last summer to be an exchange student in Egypt, he got on the plane weighing 155 pounds. When he returned home four months later, his parents arrived at the airport to find that their son weighing only 97 pounds and too weak to carry his own luggage!
McCullum, 17, says he was kept on short rations by his host family of Coptic Christians, who fast for more than 200 days a year. The teen believes that it wasn't simply a case of cultural misunderstanding. He said his hosts were just stingy.
The host father,Shaker Hanna denies the accusations saying, "The truth is, the boy we hosted for nearly six months was eating for an hour and a half at every meal. The amount of food he ate at each meal was equal to six people,"
Does this look like a boy eating for 6?

Copts are generally known for over feeding their guests and so it is just impossible that this happened. Ask any tourist who went to a Coptic family or a Coptic monastery...Even when we are fasting or lenting, and we have guests of other faiths, we make sure they eat their normal food. I find it totally hard to believe, it is just impossible to rationalize the incident. If it truly happened, the kid should have reported and went away..what made him stay all that time until he suffered that much...
It is just unbelievable!
With stories like that how are parents suppossed to let their children experience fun programs overseas?
