I am currently employed as a substitute teacher for a local public school district and I enjoy that very much; but it is not a full-time position. Some weeks I have worked everyday, while other weeks I work 1. So substituting is not something I can live off of for the rest of my life. I am currently searching for a job in the library. To be a librarian, you must have a Master's Degree in Library Science. To be a library assistant or technician(the one's who check out the books, help you find what you need, etc.) either require experience in working in a library or some sort of degree(usually associate's) or a certificate. I would like to get my Master's someday but not right now. Those that know me know that I can work in a library with no problem. I may not have the little piece of paper that indicates that I completed a library program of some sort but I have been patronizing the library every since I was very young. I am at the library several times a week and sometimes I am there everyday. The two public libraries that I frequent, I know backwards and forwards. I am a very fast learner, so what I don't know I can learn very quickly.

Good luck in your job hunt. Keep your chin up!
If you see my widget it means you got a "10" :O)
A position is available within walking distance of my home, offers good pay and benefits. I interviewed with them and they're still running the want ad. (Since OCTOBER!) I have every single thing they're looking for ~ except the degree. During the interview, the "Big Guy" told me directly that he wanted to meet with me because he wanted to know how I have come so far and have so much knowledge without an education.
Maybe I'm using the wrong toothpaste????
when I was younger, that was not the case....I worked in one for a few months until I found a job that paid much better...
I agree, the university system seems to be locking out people from jobs that can essentially be done by anyone...
I was told by a couple of my son's friends you now need a high school diploma to work in a slaughterhouse...
now this is just utterly ridiculous
