Ok, so they don't actually disappear completely but sometimes I don't get them until 3 days later? These are the notifications that say someone has posted a comment on your article or content in your group needs approval. I have a yahoo email address, could this be a yahoo thing? I only have this problem with Gather though. I get all my other emails relatively on time. What do you all think? Is it an evil Gather notification conspiracy against me?

As has been pointed out above, there is a problem currently receiving Gather notifications through Yahoo. Do you have a Yahoo email address? If so, I can help you with a work-around solution.
Yeah, I have yahoo. Do you already have a solution posted somewhere? I would really appreciate the help!
There are actually two related solutions. Unfortunately both of them involve using an email address other than Yahoo.
SOLUTION 1
1) Determine if you have a different active email address other than Yahoo (gmail, hotmail, etc.).
2) Add memberinfo@gather.com to your email address book or 'safe list' for this other non-Yahoo account.
3) Replace your Yahoo email address on your account settings page with the new address.
You will no longer receive email from Gather to your Yahoo email account...BUT, you should start getting email from Gather regularly.
SOLUTION 2
1) Create a new email address with another email provider (gmail, hotmail, etc.) - Gmail preferred.
2) Add memberinfo@gather.com to your email address book or 'safe list' for this other non-Yahoo account.
3) Use email 'filtering' or 'forwarding' to forward all email from this account to your Yahoo email address.
4) Replace your Yahoo email address on your account settings page with the new address.
You will now regularly receive email from Gather to your Yahoo email account.
