Leap to challenge #8

When we were small children  we played leap frog and were told that Superman was able to leap tall buildings. Some young ladies were excited when leap year came around. Hoping their boyfriends would ask for their hand in marriage.

Then the Vietnam War brought our soldiers to foreign land in helicopters. Our men had to leap into war infested territory. Now the headlines leap off the page. . . of war in Iraq.

So, we sit. We Hope. We pray. Is there a leap of faith?

Very well written! I"ve never heard the part about being asked to be married on leap year.

I like how you wind the theme through the piece, starting in childhood and ending in real time.
As for you question at the end, we need to get active, do something to make the situation better...but what? Sometimes I'm just so overwhelmed with it all that I am paralyzed.
