Fitness and stretching come hand in hand. Before you begin your work out you stretch and after you do your workout you should stretch again. Stretching is what gives you more freedom of movement, so you can do things you need to do and like to do. However, stretching alone is not going to help with endurance or strength. The right way to do stretching is to be relaxed, don't bounce around. Bouncing around can actually pull muscles that you're trying to stretch. Breathe slowly and naturally when stretching, don't try to hold your breath.
Before and after every workout you should stretch for a minimum of five to seven minutes. Now that's minimum, if you feel like you need to stretch for a little bit longer, and then by all means do so. You should hold each stretch for at least fifteen seconds and always try to stretch a little bit further with every stretch that you do. The right way to stretch is to be relaxed, not to bounce around. Bouncing around can actually cause you to pull muscles while you try to stretch. Breathe slowly and naturally when stretching, do not try to hold your breath. See, fitness and stretching always work together.
Stretching can help with many aspects of your body. It can help you to improve your physical fitness, increase mental and physical relaxation, reduce risk or injury to your joints, muscles and tendons and can also help women with severe pain during menstruation. See, stretching doesn't just improve flexibility, but it does allow you to do the things you do now, plus the things you want to do.
Stretching after you've completed your workout allows your body to cool down, it allows your heart and your blood pressure to wind down and return to that it was before your pre-exercise level. So never, workout, without adding your stretching into the mix.
