We first heard of 'The Spiderwick Chronicles' when we took the kids to the theater to see the last Harry Potter movie. One of the previews was for the Spiderwick movie. I had never heard of the books, and it looked like something right up our alley, so when we got home from the theater I looked up the books and bought them from Amazon. Hubby and I both liked them, and I read them to Haley. At the time she was a bit too young to really get into them.
Well, we took the kids to the theater to watch 'The Spiderwick Chronicles' last Saturday, so they're a bit obsessed with it right now. I've been re-reading the books to Haley at night before bedtime, three or four chapters each night. We just finished book two tonight and will start book three tomorrow. She's old enough now to get into them and really enjoy the story.
Today was a beautiful, warm day here in the South, so the kids and I went outside to play. Guess what they wanted to play? Spiderwick. Haley was Mallory. Parker was Jared. Simon had already been taken by the goblins. And guess who I got to be? Thimbletack, the brownie. The little, funny-looking dude. LOL
On a sidenote, if you and your kids have not read The Spiderwick Chronicles, do so! And if you haven't gone to see the movie, do that too! It will be a fun read (and view) for the both of you. And hey, maybe you'll get to be Thimbletack too! Hehe.
