This is one of those stories that upsets me. Maxim magazine published a review of the new Black Crowes album, Warpaint, without having listened to it. The reason is because the band never made any advance copies of the CD available, so there's no way the magazine could have gotten a copy, unless they did so illegally. They still posted the review, giving it a very average rating.
Have you ever wondered about the validity of the reviews you sometimes read? A lot of times the writer uses such vague terms that you could almost plug in the album/movie/book title and a few minor details and just use a form to base the review from. Kind of like those Mad Libs books you had as a kid.
Not only is this unfair to the Black Crowes, but it is also unfair to the readers of the magazine. Shame on your, Maxim!
