I am having a diffcult time believing the article I just read is factually true.

DALLAS -- Security details at Barack Obama's rally Wednesday stopped screening people for weapons at the front gates more than an hour before the Democratic presidential candidate took the stage at Reunion Arena.
The order to put down the metal detectors and stop checking purses and laptop bags came as a surprise to several Dallas police officers who said they believed it was a lapse in security.
Dallas Deputy Police Chief T.W. Lawrence, head of the Police Department's homeland security and special operations divisions, said the order -- apparently made by the U.S. Secret Service -- was meant to speed up the long lines outside and fill the arena's vacant seats before Obama came on.
"Sure," said Lawrence, when asked if he was concerned by the great number of people who had gotten into the building without being checked. But, he added, the turnout of more than 17,000 people seemed to be a "friendly crowd."
The Secret Service did not return a call from the Star-Telegram seeking comment.
Doors opened to the public at 10 a.m., and for the first hour security officers scanned each person who came in and checked their belongings in a process that kept movement of the long lines at a crawl. Then, about 11 a.m., an order came down to allow the people in without being checked.
Several Dallas police officers said it worried them that the arena was packed with people who got in without even a cursory inspection.
They spoke on condition of anonymity because, they said, the order was made by federal officials who were in charge of security at the event.
"How can you not be concerned in this day and age," said one policeman.

Months ago I waited in line for three hours for three hours at NYU waiting for Obama to speak at a rally. The enormous crowd of people all had to pass through three larger metal detectors.
This happened at a time when his candidacy was largely a curiosity rather than a significant movement. Now it is very serious business.
For the Dalla police department to be concerned about the flagrant and needs to be explained response of someone in the Secret Service is highly disturbing.
And in Dallas no less.

It's more than disheartening. It's alarming.
Look for that to happen again if this insanity isn't stopped.
There is only one problem with all of this. Passions in me are starting to swell up already, and ordinarily I am a very peaceloving person. They had better not even think of trying it. It is already known what is contemplated. We understand (we) meaning Blacks, every single time the issue of "experience" comes up.
It is starting to heat up. Now I see this. It is ugly, very ugly.

I remember reading how they CELEBRATED -- yes, CELEBRATED the assassination of President Kennedy, and it was NOT Left Wing people doing the celebrating.

It's almost as if they want Barack Obama to be assassinated. That is a shame if it is true. I think you are right Lady Nalita. He seems to be winning the nomination.
There are plenty of nuts out there and some who are in office, no doubt, but the conspiracy theory is usually the least likely explanation for this type of thing.
By the way, on Clinton bid for the White House the first time, the Secret Service had him under protection. We were handling the arrangements and were in the group with them. The Secret Service came in a month ahead of time and interviewed us and they did extensive background checks - we all had to have clearances. I was the that identified people to be let into the VIP section cause I knew all the dem heavyweights here. There was a Secret Service guy with me the whole time. This was for a white candidate people.
Obama isn't the only one who has threats on his life. Are you forgetting that Hillary is also in this race? If there ever was a poster-child for Secret Service protection of a candidate, it is her.

You need to re-read your history, Joe. Oswald was interviewed in New Orleans by the local TV station after it was discovered he was handing out leaflets for the "hands off Cuba" peacenik group.........and that was only two months before he shot Kennedy in Dallas. Plus, he had moved to the Soviet Union after his service in the Marines because he thought America was evil.
It doesn't get much more Left Wing than that.
I fear someone like that re-appearing at an Obama rally..............one without Secret Service protection.

In this country, Communist means you're willing to march, protest, and go to jail for your cause.............Left Wing simply means you give money to the cause and put a Sickle and Hammer decal on the bumper of your Volvo.
I like everybody else found this story bizarre. for one thing, the decision was made by the secret service to get people in faster. they aren't part of the campaign their only job is security. As much as I hate conspiracies, who has the most inside connections regarding secret service security detail and who has the most to win if Obama was killed? If I was him I would seriously demand a full investigation into whose decision was ultimately followed to allow such a breach. I would even call this criminal negligence.

He said that the event's security plans didn't involve having each participant pass through a magnetometer, as may be the case at other events...."
