Thursday's Writing Essential Update

This was today's challenge for the writing essential group:

Write something about your ultimate publishing goal. Is your goal to simply become a published writer, or do you aspire to become a prize-winning novelist? Is there a particular publication you'd like to open one day and have your byline prominently displayed? Do you have dreams of researching a spectacular little-known river in the African jungle and writing about its biological make up? (If you answered "yes" to this last question, leave this article immediately. You're obviously WAY too sophisticated for me!)

I fear that sometimes we confuse being published with being read. My ultimate goal is to have my books bobbing in the arms of a sea of delighted readers. I want to move people with words.

I'd like to help as many people as possible, especially in regard to taking charge of their own health and life. Also it's nice to stay fresh and unpredictable, as a lot of great musical artists do (Bob Dylan, Neil Young) so you can also challenge the readers to think beyond their own preconceived ideas. And it looks like I've got some really great company here to inspire me as well! Thanks for posting this.

Good way to focus on your goals. Mine are to write for a more national audience and to be able to focus more in subject maters I enjoy like baseball.

I am writing about success in school and finding a job. I want my ideas to work. I want to light candles in the heads of my students and I want them to take my ideas and use them for success.

My goal is to touch lives. Which I feel I could have already done. And, to see what I can do with this darn gift God has given me. Sometimes it feels like a curse, though, it follows me around with endless ideas and thoughts. Guess they call that a writing muse.

My friends and I won't rest until I see what the possibilities are!
