Falling Into Forever- A Vampire Story~ Chapter 2

~desdemona's P.O.V~
    I arrived homa an hour and a half after i had left, and as I had expected, lady Kaida was mad.
    "What took you so long?" she screamed, yanking the water bucket out of my hand.
    "Forgive me." I said, bowing obsequiously "but there was a long line at the well today." I answered, only half lieing.
     "Whatever. I need you to clean the main hall, prepare dinner, and for goodness sake buy a new dress!" she said, pointing at my dust covered attire.
    "Milady, I can't buy a new dress." I said looking up at her. " i haven't got any money."
    "What?! What happened to the money i gave you last week?!" she asked angrily. In all honesty, she hadn't given me any money whatsoever, but to argue with lady Kaida is to sign your own death warrant, so I came up with an excuse.
    "I spent it on extra food ma'am." She didn't look convinced, but she handed me $50 and told me to go out and buy a few new dresses. $50 was enough money to buy ten dresses. For lady Kaida to be so generous somebody really important must be coming to the manor. I slipped out of the manor into the bustling marketplace. All around me children were laughing and chasing each other in circles, while mothers chased after them, screaming for them to behave. I walked slowly toward the dress shop, and took my dear sweet time trying to find the perfect dresses. Eventually a lady at the counter noticed me wandering around the shop and came over to me.
    "would you like help with anything?" she asked politely.
    " Yes please. My mistress sent me to buy myself something more suitable to wear, but I can't seem to decide on what I want." i replied.
    " Well, do you have anything in mind?" she askes.
    " I need something elegant. my mistress only sends me clothes shopping if someone of importance is visitng." I told her.
    " I see that." she said, sneering at the rags I was wearing. "Come this way. I think I have just the right thing." she smiled, leading me to the back of the store. "here." she said, handing me a long  black dress. It was gorgeous. it had a dark purple corset, and the bottom was adorned with purple lace. Around the waist was a black silk belt with ribbons that cascaded to the ground ,fastened to it with amathyst beads.
    "thank you." I smiled, paying for the dresses that I chose, and left. I rushed out onto the busy street and ran straight back to the manor.
    " I'm back" I huffed as I walked through the door and awaited lady Kaida's orders.
    " Well what are you waiting for? go get changed. We have guests. Hurry before they see you." she snapped, shoving me toward the stairs. I ran swiftly down the steps, two at a time, eager to change into my new dess. I changed quickly, struggling only for a moment with  the strings on the corset, examined myself breifly in a dusty mirror that was hidden among the piles of junk that lady Kaida will very likely never use, and walked upstairs to greet the guests.
