Effective communication is a must if you intend on operating an extremely profitable personal training business. It is the number one skill you must possess if you want to be a personal trainer.
When you decide to become a personal fitness trainer it is important to take your knowledge of fitness, and uncanny enthusiasm into your mission of empowering your clients health, and fitness.
Your main mission as a personal fitness trainer is to empower, and motivate fitness training clients towards their specific fitness goals, and objectives. Please understand, this process all starts with effective verbal communication. The more time you invest as a personal trainer into sharpening up your communication skills, the greater chance you will have at empowering, and motivating your clients. This, in turn, will result into earning more money.
One of the biggest errors trainers make in their fitness training businesses is lack of focus on communication. It is simple! Understand, and sharpen your communication skills to indirectly generate more income.
Upon meeting a new personal training prospect your goal should be to deliver your message successfully. Doing so is about mastering the art of communication. This communication skill can be carried over into your training sessions when the prospect becomes a client. By delivering your message in an effective manner you will most likely become a personal trainer who profits.
The first step in mastering communication in your personal training business is to take an assessment of yourself. What is your personality type? Are you a socializer? Do you have a reserved personality? You need to know this before you can train a client.
The next step for effective communication is to observe the prospect, or client, to determine their personality traits. It is important for you to know if they are socializers, or rather reserved. You can tailor your sales presentation, and personal training sessions to them specifically as soon as you discover. It is important to mimic the prospects personality as you deliver your important message.
It is very important in a personal trainer business to pick up on personality cues of your clients quickly. If you love to talk, but your fitness training client is very quiet, and reserved, then you will not want to smother them with intense conversation during the workout. It is important for you to make good judgment?
It is important to run your personal training business in a manner of presenting information to the client in a way that is comfortable, and extremely motivating to them. The biggest personal trainer education I can offer you regarding communication is to pattern your personality after your clients. What I mean by that is if they are energetic, and talkative, you be talkative. If they are louder, you can go ahead and be louder. If they are reserved, you should be more quiet in your personal training leadership.
The most important aspect of effective communication is listening. As a professional fitness trainer you must listen minimally 80 percent of the time, while talking 20 percent. Remember, the training session is about them, and their goals, and objectives, not you. Cater to them. It will motivate them; they will love you, and your fitness business will grow.
In my personal trainer education I was taught it doesn't matter how much you know, but how much you really care. Please remember this! Base your fitness business after this saying. If clients know you really care, they will trust you. Trust means they will be more committed to your program. The bottom line is increased adherence, and greater profits.
To discover what really motivates clients internally, you must ask, and listen very closely. It is important to find their hot button as to why they are participating in an exercise program. What are their deep, core reasons. Extract these reasons, and use them to motivate your personal training clients. Doing so will, once again lead to motivation, adherence, and good client results.
When using effective communication you will always want to skillfully remind training clients why they are training. Their hot buttons will motivate them to great accomplishments.
Another very important aspect of effective communication is positive reinforcement. Praising fitness clients for succeeding on the little things will elicit bigger accomplishments later on. Continue to positive reinforce, always! Never incorporate any negative form or motivation. It simple de-motivates clients.
I hope I have made my point clear that effective communication is a must in running a successful personal training business. Doing so will most likely bring you into the upper echelon of personal fitness trainers.
