Eclipse Last Night

Last night I took some photos of the eclipse. All of these pictures were taken with a NikonD70S, most of them cropped, resized and watermarked.

At the beginning, there was a haze around the moon.

Laurun - thanks for letting me know about these incredible shots - you did an exceptional job on each one of them. I live in California so I did see the first one - here about 7 I would say and then clouds kept passing in front of the moon - I did go back outside and view it a couple of times and also right at the end - I loved each and every moment of watching the moon - that wonderful lady pearl of the sky - thank you - I appreciate any and every chance to worship and view la luna! Salud.

Great photos. I had a tripod. My hands shake so bad I can't even take indoor pictures without a flash if I don't have one! I want a better zoom, though. My pictures didn't come out near as good as yours... :-)

I wanted to take some pictures, but camera and batteries packed, but this was great Laurun, you did a fine job of showing the entire eclipse to us thank you very much.

These are really good. I went to bed and didn't bother watching it. It was too cold and way to cloudy around here. Besides, I needed the sleep.

Mariana, I had class last night and I was afraid I was going to miss it. We were let out early. I had my camera with me anyway. The eclipse didn't start until after 8P.M. and went on through until after 10P.M.

Great pictures. I watched the early parts but didn't go back outside later. We had wispy clouds drifting across the moon here that added a mysterious sort of effect to the eclipse. The kids were thrilled with watching it.

Hi Lauren - I have not read the comments yet - but in your first picture, that is not a star, it is actually Saturn that you have captured with the Eclipsed moon :)

Yes, uit was Saturn. We had a telescope some years back and used to scope out Saturn frequently; the moon, too. Once Jupiter. Venus, north star, etc...dippers, orion...

Nice photo article on the eclipse! I was out there too! Only one of the shots I took was with a tripod! It's difficult to do night photography and hand hold the camera! Nice job Laurun!

Laurun, nice set of pictures to show the progression. It was uncanny how different the moon looked as the different shades of color were draped over it.
Well done! Here in West Oz, it was the full moon - without eclipse and no red.

hi, thx for this series of shots...i was driving out of my driveway and watched from my country road which gave me a view of Mt. Rainier since we in the PNW saw this early evening....and yes, a tripod with a 400mm or better lens is optimum,but at least you were able to show the progression with visible recognition....good on you!

Thanks so much for these pictures. I watched it from my sliding glass door, going outside for a couple of minutes here and there. It was spectacular. I especially like the first photo, because it looks like another planet, not the moon.

Awesome! I can see how it looks much better in your photos than in person. I watched it for a while, but I have sight problems, and I couldn't really tell what I was looking at. It was frustrating, so thank you for posting these here so I can see it properly.
