Blindness creeps up slowly
Like a lover,
Insidiously staging its quiet coup.
No prisoners will be taken.
Knowing this, it is all the more cruel.

Thanks for posting to Just Poetry!
My dad has macular degeneration--directly caused by one of the (he calls them) "rhythm medicines" he is on for his heart. His grandad went blind, and he is very (tho silently) fearing the same fate.
It is so sad to see him struggle with reading small print, and I have to go behind him and verify his measurements. Do you know how small 1/32 of an inch is? He does some woodworking, and it is affecting his ability to "play." So damned sad.
Thank you for this piece.
Blessings on you, dear moderator-estraordinaire!
