For you
for Alison
This morning
reading your poem
your words roaring
like the waves of a strong deep ocean
your wisdom are the bread crumbs
i scatter in the woods
as i walk lost
seeking the very tree that will show
me who i am
and where i am going.
I read your words
and carry them like a child
to grow and develop
into being
a unique creation of love
without a painful past
but with the joyful wings
of a bird
struggeling to remain here
in the heart of winter
rather than follow the flock
towards warmer lands.
Africa would be good
this time of year
to bath like an elephant
in forgetfulness
but i can't
so i instead
choose your words
as my raft
and they carry me
throughout the day
well into the night
invade my dreams
like a sweet bee
bringing honey
strength patience
the blessings of toil
gathered sweetness from flowers
growing near and far
the ones i see everyday
and the ones
i can only imagine
