Recent Observations

I was just going home for a break when I saw this: an armored car at the bank, doing whatever it is they do with an ATM-putting more money in, I suppose.  That itself isn't funny, but what is funny is this: it was being guarded by an elderly man.  Not just any elderly man, but an elderly man with a cane.  Tell me this: why, if you were trying to protect your money, would you hire a guard that needed a cane to walk?  The man filling the ATM was a relative youngster, too-perhaps a robust 70 years old as opposed to the guard, who looked to be pushing ninety, and a not-very-healthy 90 at that.  It made me chuckle.  I mean, if it were me, and I was passing through town and had nothing to lose, it would only take a split second for me to decide to create a diversion and go roll the old guys and take off with the money.  Slap a piece of tape over the camera, pull the cane out from under the older guy, take the money and run.  Really, what could they do to stop me?  Hobble after me waving the cane, asking politely for me to return the money?  I suppose they might carry guns, but again, what are they REALLY going to do?  Drop the cane, stumble around while trying to maintain balance while pulling the gun out of the holster?  I'd be long gone by that time.  I think I have too active an imagination because I can actually SEE this happening, and it just makes me chuckl.  Good thing I am not a criminal at heart, right?
