Family-some won't believe this.. a prayer request from me.

I got a long delayed email reply from my Jewish buddy in Jax today. It seem that he and his wife have just been told that their little girl MAY be Autistic.

Tests are being done, lets hope the come back negative.

I'm putting them on the prayer chain.
Autism is not as bad as many think it is.
There is a full spectrum of people with Autism and Asperger's Syndrome... some are much more capable than others, but Autism by itself is just a difference in perceiving things and relating to the world. I happen to know some people on the Spectrum who are awesome.

I will certainly pray, Lloyd. I'll also pray for them not to lose hope. Even if they learn of such a disgnosis, there are many wonderful early intervention therapies available right now. Autistic children--depending on the severity--often lead fairly normal lives.

We were told my daughter was autistic...she isn't...she had a hearing problem....so don't lose hope.

Not a 'prayer' type of gal but do send positive thoughts their way... hope everything works out in a positive light although even if the child is autistic, as Lydia said above there are a broad spectrum of syptoms grouped under the autism label, many of them cvan be treated safely and effectively. Still, sending wishes for a favorable outcome.

My heart goes out to them and their daughter. As stated above there are many children with autisim that lead full and productive lives. I hope all the best for them.

Doc, I'll send up a prayer. These days they say one in one hundred children actually are autistic, some very mildly so. With proper intervention and work, the child can actually get past a lot of it. I will pray it isn't so, and that the parents can deal with and be prepared for whatever comes.
