I decided to make my husband and son some chocolate hearts for Valentines Day. First was going to Michael's and getting a candy mold.
I already had the chocolate. I had been buying and hiding it for weeks. Ghiradelli 70% Cacao chocolate - it was on sale for weeks - $1.99 for a 3.5 oz bar.
I melted 2 bars of the chocolate along with 1/2 bag of Wiltons Candy Melts in Green. I put a layer of melted Ghiradelli in the molds. I used a paintbrush and painted it in. Refrigerated for awhile. Took it out after 15 minutes and made another layer of chocolate, did the same thing over and over. I add 2 layers of green melts and then topped it with melted chocolate and refrigerated the chocolates for 1/2 hour. Then I removed the chocolates and packaged them.
I put chopped pretzel in the middle of my sons as he is allergic to nuts.
They were a big hit. My hubby and son love dark chocolate. They looked really pretty too.
