Could these be Orbs?

I got a bouquet of roses from my husband for Valentine's Day.   I took many photos of the bouquet at the same time.  One of the photos I took had these spots all over it.  At first I thought my camera lens was dirty, but they weren't on any of the other photos just this rose.  The photo was taken in my son's room (for those of you that don't know he passed away in 2003)   I don't know what to think?!  I'm not really sure what orbs are or what they mean.  I've seen other photos of them here on Gather and they look the same to me .   Panasonic FZ7 digital camera

It may have been at the developers - they perhaps had dust on the developing equipment - that would make it show up in specks - I don't think these are orbs which are bigger. Good shots by the way. Salud.

If this was taken with digital - you may have internal dust - but I do look for signs and who knows, they well may be a sign - more on that later. Salud.

Trudy, I don't know much about orbs but I think Kate Keeley is right. I think you son was definitely with you, loving you, at that very moment when you were photographing those roses. A special moment in time, just for the two of you.

They dont look like orbs to me. I think orbs tend to have a fuzzy like aura around them. Have you ever noticed that? The roses are gorgeous though!

Maybe its an imperfection in that particular rose that is magnified by the light/lens you are using. I might not be as obvious with the naked eye... Just an idea since it looks like its in the same place on each photo.

I'm thinking they're not orbs but something on the flower pedal in that they don't move and remain in the same place from picture to picture like they're permanent. If they were orbs, they would have moved and be in another spot by the next picture.

They didn't move so it was perhaps a bit of moisture reflecting the light.

Haven't a clue but I've had that happen to me too. I notice it when I take my camera from cold to hot air, also when my camera goes through a glitch moment and when that happens I remove the batteries and put them back.

Sorry about you son. I did not know or if I did I forgot. If you think he's hanging around and/or playing with you EMBRACE that thought and hang on to it. My loved ones show up every once in a while in the strangest ways and I always whisper, thank you.

Ask Mandi = watch where the sidewalkends. She redid her house a couple of years back and when she looked at the digital photos, there were larger - several inches - of orbs along her baseboard. I agree with Mariana, that orbs, which often are attrributed as ghosts, do show up in Digital photos but usually are bigger. I'd research further, however,

I know people here on Gather and in real life who have talked with ghosts - relatives or people who inhabited where they were living but who died. This kind of thing is real, we just usually don't have the technology to capture or measure it.

Digital cameras sometimes do create orbs. It's something in the mechanics of them and you could do a google search and find all sorts of information. That said, I would have to say that, if I understood what you wrote correctly and this is the only one out of all the photos you took that had these orb patterns in them, there is a good chance it is spirit-related.

I kind of wish you had also taken a shot from a greater distance, so that there was area around the rose, as well. It might give add'l clarification.

Were the other photos you took, that did not have orbs in them, taken in another room? Were they all taken before this shot was taken?

You could do an experiment. Take several shots in other rooms, then send out a 'thought' to your son that you're going to take photos in his room and you'd like him to show himself in them. Take some photos inside his room. Then go back to other rooms and take a few more photos. If there are orbs only in the shots taken in his room, then you might have created enough of a pattern to determine for yourself that they're related to him 'visiting' you. ---- Wouldn't that be a treat!??

I'm no expert and can't tell you in this case, but I did learn something about orbs on that show Ghostbusters (TAPS) believe it or not. Cameras have trouble trying to read, or focus on some reflections against the larger background light trying to bring both to focus at the same time.. causing blurry spots. Something like that anyway.....

We have a few pictures with orbs, our WWII era housing sits in the middle of Germany and one of the towns where Hitler barracked his troops. We took them in our basement and I'll see if I can find one of them to compare to.

Sorry Trudy I just have no idea and don't believe in ghosts; I loved my mother very much and she has never came to me but then again she didn't when she was alive neither. No matter I will always love her.

A few years ago, my daughter and I went to Portland and went on a Portland Underground tour of one of the most haunted places (they were featured on America's Most Haunted). Her photos (taken with a digital camera) had orbs in them. Most of the pictures she took had them. They were different colors, too. Some looked like the ones on the bottom photo. I can't see them in the top one but I can see them in the lower one. I think maybe he was there. I would embrace that feeling and know that he is out there, someplace. He's reaching out to you with a little valentine gift of his own.

You got lots of advice. I have no knowledge of orbs. But the color of that rose simply vibrates with beauty.
too big to be dust...at first I could not see them so I tunred off my computer lamp...then they jumped out at me...

I do believe in ghosts, spirits etc...and have pics of orbs from my home posted on gather...so I do think they are.

Your son was there with you...what is wrong with believing that?

Okay I am not going to give the answer you want. I am a paranormal investagator in Oklahoma. But I am still new, so I am not saying I am all knowing. But I do not think they are obs. I have read so much on orbs and how most of the time there is a logical reason they are there. I have basically made up my mind that if I get pics with orbs I just throw them out. the only time I will believe that they are true orbs is if the orbs have been seen with the naked eye at the time the pic was taken. Orbs are just so iffy in the paranormal world now, but there are some paranormal investagators out there that still believe they get orbs.
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of a son though. that must be so horrible. I could not imagine the pain you went through. I am sure he has given you signs that he is okay. I believe passed loved ones can do that, I just don't think this is one of them.

beautiful. I dont know about Orbes either but I will research today. I have some free time! i believe the dead do try to contact strong connections they had on earth. That I have studied quite a bit. So in my opinion he was there. Oh yes he was there.

Trudy I don't believe those are orbs. Orbs are perfectly round, and as the other viewers have noted, they do move around, so it would be nearly impossible to capture them in the same position. Interesting, though!

nice thought,but when i magnified in my editing program i can see what appears to be overexposed lighter areas like on the petal rims....what was the light source in the room and did you use flash?....digital sensors pick up reflective light on lighter areas of objects

the exposure is strange to my eye as the shadows show smudgy dark purple....

Gorgeous shots, whatever you decide. This macro is so hard to do, and you've done it wonderfully. Everything is perfectly positioned, especially the red "bleed" of the rose petals off of the frame.

These images sure resulted in quite a bit of feedback. After studying the images, I conclude that your camera was reacting to multiple reflections of light, similar to what G-Photog mentions a couple of posts back.

I'm no stranger to sensing or seeing translucent or seemingly projected images of identifiable and/or unidentifiable beings. I can understand a desire to sense or see your son 'just one more time'. The connection between a mother and her offspring is quite powerful. Aside from expressing very belated condolences to you, all I can say is that you'll see your son again when our heavenly father calls you home.

they really do not look like orbs. It looks like it may be dust particles on some of the photo equipment or developer.
The roses are BEAUTIFUL and the pictures are very pretty.
Maybe if you had taken a distance picture of the room and the roses sitting in the room, you may have gotten some orbs of your son being in the room with you.

This is information gathered on more than 10 years of ghost investigations and talking with local investigators on several occasions: Even pro investigators agree orbs are hard to prove one way or another, but there's many things that cause false positives.

Some are: Dust, bugs caught in the flash, moisture etc. Seeing as it doesn't appear to be in motion from one shot to the next, I'm inclined to believe it might be a false positive. There is little proof to tell what is a false positive or not with orbs and the pros often dismiss many of them for that reason.

False orb or not, I'm sure Dustin was there with you. That's the important thing.

To be honest, when it comes to orbs..there is no experts...only theories and speculations. As for your son , I am so sorry for that loss.
I usually look for the "umph" in the orbs we get. I look for faces or the big bright ones, or other oddities.
