In music drama, a marked melodic phrase or short passage which always accompanies the reappearance of a certain person, situation, abstract idea, or allusion in the course of the play; a sort of musical label. also, a dominant and recurring theme.

I was flabbergasted to learn that poltroon is a real word!
Pretty much any word that ends in "inkle" will sound like nonsense.
Please be honest. How many of you thought this was pronounced cally-ope? It was about 5 years ago when I realized it. duh! LOL
