Another year is almost here, Ken. Happy Birthday! Love ya.
Today is a special day. Back in 1986, my mother and stepfather were married. Ken (my stepfather) has been a pillar in our lives since he and my mother met. He has seen us through thick and thin. He has cried tears of sorrow with us and laughed with us in times of joy. He has given us guidance and attempted to share his wisdom (even when we thought we knew more than he knew).
Ken built a life for my mom and accepted her children (us) as his own. He provided love and understanding, held out hope for us, and showed us how to follow our dreams. I am eternally grateful for this man coming into our lives. I can not imagine Ken not being a part of our family.
So on today, his birthday, I want to wish him a Happy day and thank him for being a husband to our mother, a father to us, a grandfather to our children, and great grandfather to their children. I love you, Ken! Happy Birthday!!!

I am sorry I am so late responding. I did get this message and birthday wish on my birthday. It didn't just make me happy, it made me feel good. It left me with tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat, seriously. We were busy at the restaurant when I got it (Sunday lunch), so I read it between orders. I showed it to your mother to read as soon as she had a break and it gave her tears too.
From the very beginning I have felt that you, Karen and Scott were my own children. I have always LOVED, tried to help and protect each of you as my own and always will. There may have been times I overstepped my bounds, if I have please forgive me.
We have all cried tears of sorrow and happiness together and I can't think of any times that we have shared that have been anything other than wonderful. There have been a few bumps in the road but that is part of life and relationships. Nothing can be perfect and if the bumps weren't there we wouldn't share the Love that we do because we wouldn't have feelings for each other. Hope that made sense.
The only thing I have ever wished was different was that I had met your mother 20 years earlier. But if I had you wouldn't be who you are and I wouldn't want that to be different.
Thank you for this wonderful Birthday Wish.
I LOVE YOU!!!!!
