I took off from work yesterday to join a quartet that did singing valentines. For $75 your loved one got a silk keepsake rose, a lovely song, a box of candy, another song, and a personalized card from four men dressed in, what else, red. Yesterday was really long and I didn't have the time last night to upload the photos so this will just be a text report; eye candy will come later tonight.
The North Brookhaven Chapter had several quartets going that day. My own quartet did over fifteen. As I was the designated driver (mostly because I own a Prius) I clocked the mileage at slightly over 200. We sang to ladies; we sang to gents. We sang to the young; we sang to the old. We sang in homes; we sang in offices. We even wore out a few parts (actually some of the married men could not do the entire day because their wives were objecting) and so we had to change the bass once and the baritone twice.
There is nothing as exciting as receiving a singing valentine. Actually there is, singing valentines to others is more exciting. You get to see the expression on their faces. Singing actually is good for you as well! So check out the Barbershop Harmony Society for a chapter in your area! Singing is great!
