Blissful Peace

The kids just left after being with us for 12 days. The dogs have all settled down in the office with me and are now sleeping. All the activity probably was exhausting for them as well. Little Bogie has grown by leaps and bounds, and it has been too long since I last pointed my camera his way. I will rectify that as soon as my work day is done.

The kids will be moving with their mom to this area - an apartment has already been secured - so we will have much more involvement in their lives. I am really pleased about that as they are bright and fun to be around. I foresee treks into the woods to explore bugs and rocks and all things nature. I'm sure we will become well acquainted with every park in the area and there will be outings to some of the kids shows that come through town.

For the moment though, I am letting out a long sigh and am glad to get back to a quieter and calmer world - at least for a short while.

This made me giggle a little. It was fun but some rest will be nice. I'm glad to hear you are going to have more time with the chldren. And the dogs will also enjoy that more than likely. Will be glad to see new photos of Bogie.

The one thing I am looking forward to is catching up with all my friends here. It seems like eons since I've found the time to just sit down and see what everyone has been up to. Honestly, by the time the kids were ready for bed, so was I.

Actually, kids LOVE to go to Gammy's house on the occasional weekend for a sleep-over and other activities. It is a great adventure. It is their great escape. This is the perfect solution.

You are Deb are blessed, indeed, to have little feet scampering in and about...but you are right...it's also nice to have the quiet back!
Tonia, there are many hours of little feet to come, methinks. Enjoy the peace and quiet while you can.

I can remember my excitement when I was expecting J. As a step-monster, I only got K a short time and kept having to return him. I was so excited to have a child to keep... I was also scared to death because I knew there was no one to take him when I wanted to give him back and get a break!

It's always nice to have little ones in the house, but it's also nice when they go home and give us our peace and quite back : - )

I love my family, but I understand that sense of relief when things are back to "normal". My normal, of course, includes children, but then it doesn't have dogs or horses, so it all works out.

It's great to spend time with people you care about. And it's great to get the chance to breathe again, too. Enjoy!

Grandchildren are the best part of being a parent ! You can spoil them then send them home for mom and dad to enjoy all that went on at Gramma's . Glad to here all went well though.

12 days! How well I know that feeling of needing to unwind. I remember the time my hubby and I insisted on taking our grandchildren back to their parents on the day assigned, even though we were both coming down with what developed into pneumonia, a major snow storm was on its way, and it was a five hour drive!

This was really a nice article! I enjoyed reading it and it made me think of my Grandchildren so far away and how frustrating it is to be apart from them. It is always nice for them to come for a visit and we take long walks in the woods and go to nearby parks for them to play and let out some frustrations of their own. It is hard to prepare for them and know it is only for a short while but it is also a blessing! Thank you for sharing your article!

From one tree hugger to another, I appreciated your comment on the burned oaks at our place because it is a heartbreak and they are NOT going to be okay and it takes a hundred years or so to grow oaks like that--if they ever grow again. The hill has eroded so badly over the years that there is little-to no-soil left among the limestone.
