Rice Krispy Hearts

These are quite easy and fun to make. You will need Rice Krispy cereal, one bag of marshmallows, butter or margarine (butter adds a better flavor to the finished product), and food coloring.
Make your Rice Krispy treats as directed on the box up until the point you add the cereal.
Melt your butter:

Add Marshmallows:

To your melted butter and marshmallow mixture, add several drops of red food coloring. Your mixture will turn bright red.

Last, add your six cups of cereal and mix together.

Before forming into hearts, you will want to let the mixture cool a bit or you'll burn your hands.
Don't want to long however, or the mixture will harden in the pan.
When you're ready to make your hearts, rub your hands with margarine or butter so that it will not stick to your hands.
Form a ball in your hands, push it together until it's as hard as you can make it and then slightly flatten it with the palm of your hand.
Next push your middle finger down slightly in the middle of your Rice Krispy treat to help it take on more of a heart shape.
Now lay it down on a piece of wax paper or a pan and use your fingers to make the tip of the heart.
When you're done making all of them, you can sprinkle with red sugar sprinkles or use small little candies to push into the tops for added decoration. Another cute idea is to use pink frosting in a tube to do an outline around the heart.
