In the World of Chocolate, Milk is the New Dark

I must admit that I have been accused of chocolate snobbery. As I grew as a foodie, my palette was no longer excited with milk chocolate. I picked up the dark chocolate habit and never looked back. Until now. The New York Times has an artcle about the changing world of milk chocolate. Which leads me to question my faith in the tried and true dark chocolate I have known and loved for so long. Of course tomorrow is the big V Day and chocolate is almost guaranteed to abound everywhere you look. Anyone who wants to give me a valentine can give me one of these new designer milk chocolates. I might even share. What about you? Do you prefer dark? Milk? What's your dirty little chocolate secret?

Though I know dark chocolate is better for you if you're going to eat chocolate, I'll always be a milk chocolate fan. I like the taste so much better. And just to be safe in case I don't get any candy for Valentine's Day, I bought myself some just to have on hand...and I'll be picking up more for half price on Friday!

Dark all the way! I used 70% Cacao for the chocolate cakes and 65% for the ganache. I can find it at the supermarket these days. Used to be very difficult or you had to buy the expensive stuff from King Arthur.

I loved Milk Chocolate when I was a teenager but now it is too sweet for me. Even my 12 year old doesn't particularly like it. He prefers really dark chocolate. For me, it can have nuts, I love nuts but my son is allergic so we mainly have dark, no nuts, in the house. Ghiradelli Intense Dark Espresso Escape is the big hit around here.
