Email: Gather Inbox is a Nightmare

I'm scared to check my emails here on Gather.  I've had people write me and ask me to spy for them, then there's the thief who's stealing photos for profit, and the who's involved caper.  Then, hate messages and name calling.  I even got told off for asking people to be nice and stop the name calling.  I invited them to La La Land.  O my!  That's evil.  Good night nurse!  What's going on?  Just a brief rant to say: Beware of your inbox!

 

PS I don't like gossip, but what would life be without it!

Sorry to hear that. I haven't received anything crazy in my inbox. I heard about the picture thief though. That's ridiculous.

I got a weird one today also...it implies it is to me, is about the theft, then shows a copy of an email signed by two others and "emma" (ABSOLUTELY NOT ME!!!!) I am so confused!
I hope gather does something about this soon. I do not support theft, but it is getting nasty out there...

I just wish I would not get these constant emails with article links.... I wrote to some of them and one of them started just sending one email a day with all his links in it... I liked that much better than 5 a day... one wrote a back about how they had been here a long time and I would understand when I had been here longer... they were actually rather rude... I would disconnect if I knew how... lol

i have been getting a few emails like that. i understand that sometimes confrontations erupt on gather between members, but i dont think its necessary to involve the whole gather community in a petty spat! i dont know, maybe thats just the peace maker in me! haha.

Now I feel like maybe I need to remove my content because of some photo thief. What is being done about that? I do not like drama, gossip or any of the like but I certainly do not want my photos stolen either or my poetry.

Ive just been deleting everything. Unless it is something that looks like it is actual correspondence sent to me it does not get opened.

Yeah, I got an email addressed to someone else about some kind of conspiracy. I just wrote the person back and told them they'd sent me somebody else's mail. I didn't know they were sending it to everybody.
(P.S. If somebody got the one addressed to me, you can keep it.)

I don't get dragged into a lot of this crap. I think it's because people know I won't put up with the nonsense. I have no problem calling them on matters and writing back telling them exactly what I think with no holds barred. Give them an inch and they'll run a marathon with the childishness. Don't be an enabler. Don't like what's going on...tell them off and you'd be surprised how fast the baloney will stop...at least stop dragging you into the fray.

I just block them all ... about half of my connections are blocked for email .... cuts down on a lot of the junk :)

Makes Gather a more enjoyable experience... and if I miss the odd personal email ...I don't even notice

I actually haven't checked my Gather mail in a couple of days... Usually when it gets too unmanageable I just delete them all and start all over.

Once I get one set of e-mail that I find bothersome from a connection I just block them, that cuts down on the e-mail!

I don't get any strange emails...maybe they are the ones I don't read and just delete. A lot of nonconnections email me.

I've been lucky, I haven't really gotten any strange emails like that. I would of probably just deleted them anyway, I hope it gets resolved for you soon. ;-)

Yeah, I got a crazy email yesterday 6 times. Maybe you saw my article. This morning I am getting a response by someone else addressing it to that person, but copying it to me, too. It doesn't even have anything to do with me. These mass emails are ridiculous. I usually just delete all of them, but I noticed this one particular one because it was sent six times. UGH!!!!

I don't get many of those ones about spying and stealing. Mostly personal e-mails ask for my advice on how to handle something or another. I do have a couple of connections that are continually writing me to read their articles. I find this annoying and redundant as they are all posted in Articles for Me under My Gather. I block those senders as they only want something from me and never reciprocate on my articles or e-mails. Carol, I promise only to send you an e-mail if it's something that's important to both you and me. You can feel safe opening mine. Okay?

You included ME in your little conspiracy and I try to stay as far away from you and your petty little games as I possibly can.

I did not come to Gather to start trouble, nor do I look for it. But you all seem to have nothing better TO DO, but to lie, speculate, and then make false claims and allegations.

You are the worst and the worst.

Yesterday, was the worst day for you to come at me. It was the anniversary of my mother's death; I only wish more of you had shown your face to me, for I would have REALLY lit into you with a fierceness you have NEVER seen from me before -- no, NOT EVER. But, come up in my face NOW, and make your false allegations.
