Returning from work yesterday morning, I was grateful to see the sunshine and feel warmer temperatures. For weeks now, there have been complaints of cold weather and rain. Deciding to enjoy the change in the weather pattern, I decided to spend some time in my "inner sanctuary". It is actually our backyard, surrounded by a privacy fence.
The blue, clear sky drew my attention. I know that soon enough, the near naked trees will be attired in new leaf clothing.

I thought with the warmer weather (and being a weekend day) that there would be the sounds of children playing, families outdoors, and such. Instead, it seemed that I was totally alone, having quiet time to enjoy a little nature.
A gentle, but repetitive "tap-tap" drew my attention to a woodpecker that was busily working on a tree limb.

A lone lizard was soaking up the sun's blessed warmth.

A butterfly landed nearby and decided to investigate my hand as I attempted to capture its beauty.

Squirrels chased one another, stopping occasionally to replenish their energy.

At day's end, I enjoyed a beautiful sunset through the trees.

When streams are ripe and swelled with rain;
May, she will stay,
Resting in my arms again.
June, she'll change her tune,
In restless walks shell prowl the night;
July, (or sooner) she will fly
And give no warning to her flight.
August, die she must,
The autumn winds blow chilly and cold;
September I'll remember
A love once new now grown cold.
