Well, I'm back. My husband and I tried to get up to our property to spend the weekend together but we ended up having to come home after getting oh so close.
We topped out on the Mogollon Rim to see 3 or 4 feet of snow. The smaller trees and most of the road signs were literally buried in all the snow. There was so much snow piled up on the sides of the roads from the plows that it was like driving through a tunnel. It was all very pretty though.

We decided to keep going up over the Rim to the other side where the landscape dropped in elevation. We were still hoping we could get to Moon Rock.
The roads and the creeks into the area were still frozen so we didn't have to slip and slide our way to the property.

There was still plenty of snow but not as deep as it was on the Rim. We saw some really beautiful scenery.

See that hill there? Yep, that's the very last stretch up to our property, and, nope, the truck just wouldn't do it. The road was full of hidden ruts and washes that we just couldn't see under all that snow. It would have been dangerous to even try it.
So, we decided just to unload the quad and head up there that way. We took pictures and spent about an hour or so. We knew we had to get out of the area before the frozen roads started to thaw.
Robert decided to take the quad down a trail that we built that leads into a canyon. No problem going down but even with a 4-wheel drive quad he had to winch his way partially back up the hill.
Here is an awesome view from on top of what we call Moon Rock.
A view of Moon Rock and the two roads coming into the property.
This is what we call the "Boulder area". It got quite a bit of snow too and the ground is really saturated. Hopefully in the spring we will have a lot of greenery.

Here are some miscellaneous shots of the snow.

This is our redneck shooting range. LOL.

I really like this shot of the snow and trees up close but also the valley in the background.
Well, we made it back to the truck just in time to notice that everything is beginning to thaw and getting pretty mucky. We had to unhook the trailer and physically push it into this position to hook it back up again. The road was so slick and the truck wasn't getting any traction so we decided that I would drive the quad to the main dirt road that was a little more solid.
By the time we got the quad loaded back up and made it to Heber, the quad and the trailer looked like this. It was fun riding it in the mud on those back roads though.

So, instead of staying the weekend, we headed back down the hill and headed for home. Kind of a bummer but we still had a great time.

A big THANK YOU for my sister Elaine for taking over the moderator duties of BEST ORIGINAL PHOTOS, ART AND WRITING and I thank YOU for posting your original work to this group.
I read on the Game and Fish newsletter, that all the lakes should be full to overflowing this year because of the run-off from snow-melt; including Powell which has been real low I guess. Looks like we had a banner year for snow.
Neat article, thanks a bunch.
thank you for this incredible photo essay - I loved the angles and how the snow hangs on those rocks! Thank you and welcome back! Salud.
John S: Wow, John, that is great to hear. I'll bet your son and his friends had a blast.
Mariana: Yep, the skoal cans are targets. Once in a while we put stuffed animals up and shoot at them too. LOL.
Madame Donna: We drove past your old place? Cool.
Quite a good gathering of snaps.
Thanks for sharing.
The soil back on those roads is clay-based, which makes them more slippery and harder to get out of, once you're bogged down.

Hey Mom (TanyaP): Yep we shoot at stuffed animals. We get the ones on sale that have the little box in them that activates a voice. So when you shoot them they laugh. LOL.
Charles: Yes, it is strange to see the cactus in the snow. I knew everyone here would like it. Thank you.
